First draft on the beegirl costume. It still needs a little something more black on the upper body, I think -- perhaps a low-slung leather collar or a black velvet scarf. But I'm overall pleased with it.

This is definitely an outfit that requires an assistant. I of course need to be laced into the corset. Although I actually have the eyes mounted on a pair of glasses behind the mask, the holes in the eyes are tiny and only allow limited tunnel vision, plus they tend to fog up after a bit. Also, the boots have 4" heels, which means I may want a bit of help navigating stairs and the like. (If anyone wants to volunteer to accompany me for a while one night at Midwest FurFest, you will be richly rewarded.)

I'm aiming for disturbing, yet sexy. What do you think?

I think you should put black stripes on the orange bodysuit, and hide the straps for the wings in the corset somehow.

I also think I'm disturbed, now.

Hey, alright, it's a chitinsuit! ditto on the stripes idea. You might also want to add some insect head definition to the mask so it reads more buggy than human-head-covered-in-black.
Very cool!

i find that mask more than a little disturbing. :) i agree that it needs some more black, but i'm not sure about thin stripes. your idea of a collar is - of course - insteresting to me, but you probably meant a different type of collar. *innocent look*

Yes.

Very nice costume. I do think you hit the mark of "disturbing yet sexy." :) I can't wait to see it in person next month.

I might could make myself available at MFF. :)

Interesting suit, and I definitely don't mind keeping myself busy during the con.

If you still need someone to help you and be a spotter, let me know. At the least, it gives me another excuse to take pictures of you close up :)

I don't find this disturbing. Should I find my lack of disturbance disturbing?

It looks nicely reminiscent of Brom...

... which means that if you really wanted to go the Brom route, some more straps, a batch of Army surplus web gear, some sort of gothic flanged mace would really accessorize it further. Er, but you were going for sexy. Right! Sorry.

How'd you do the compound eyes anyway?

WONDERFUL; I Love it! Especially like the body suit and corset. Yep, you need to hide the wing straps-- velcro, or I've also seen costumers make a sort of clip-hook that goes over the corset back. Do you have a "stinger"? That could just be some sort of tail like attachment at the base of the corset back.

(BTW, Have I shown you the wasp-woman in corset tattoo on my lower back?)

One idea for the head--I could make you a great mask from an old army surplus gas mask I have. I've always thought it looked disturbingly insectoid. Have always wanted to actually do something with it. How about, I make a mask just for fun and give it to you at MFF--then you can decide if it actually works with the costume or not.

Hey, I'm actually going to a mask making/women's circle get together this weekend--I could even start working on it there!

One more comment--you look just too cute! I don't know if I'm suffering from body-image envy or developing a crush...:)

Oh, wow! That is really impressive. I agree with the recommendations for stripes. I think a black collar would just get lost in the neck of the hood. However, a reltavely thin (~0.5 in.) orange collar would look really good.

J and I will be at MFF, but I don't what hours. (We'll be commuting so we can take care of our cats.) I'm looking forward to seeing you again!
