Anthrocon report (short, obligatory)

I didn't attend a single actual con-sponsored event, it turns out, except for the game I ran, but I had a moderately amusing time in any case, despite being too exhausted to attend RHPS or do any late night hanging out.

Special thanks to [profile] aprivatefox for helping to run the tabletop gaming rooms, and [personal profile] sythyry, [personal profile] lediva, and [livejournal.com profile] tygermoonfoxx for running games. You made my job easy, and gave me time to wander about.

My favorite part of the con, as usual, was costuming. I'm pleased to see that full body, non-plush style costuming is continuing to gain in popularity; it's a great way to interact with people in character. The Heaven the Pregnant Vixen costume went well, I thought:

Bumblebee as Heaven the Vixen

I especially like the way the hair came out -- so seventies!-- and the toe socks (barefoot and pregnant, y'know). Fewer explicitly squicked reactions than I expected, and much postive feedback. Many many people rubbed my tummy, which somehow in this context didn't bother me in the slightest.

Expected: The comeon "By two, you don't happen to mean me and my friend, right?" (Nice try. :P). Not expected: More than one person thought I meant that I was a serious fan of [profile] 2_gryphon. Special bonus: The suit is actually very comfy, and I expect to wear it as random around, the house maternity wear when the weather gets cold.

[livejournal.com profile] sythyry and I gave away a lot of pottery, and got prints and sketches and produce and promises. I hung out with a bunch of tall women and other interesting people. Mothra kicked a lot and got his very own conbadge, thanks to [profile] mister_wolf, via [personal profile] lediva.I ate cheesecake with interesting freaks. Some World Tree books were sold, despite only about an hour and a half table time on my part.

That's it for the con scene for me, for the next few months.

YOU

Yeah she saw it (the comment) -- who knew?

Definately was a head turner, that's for sure!

Poor noobs like me, so easily unglued. ;)

*chuckle* Well, you know, it's not every day you see a pregnant fursuiter. 8-)

What are the letters before "ffing" on your top? I'm hoping they're not "smo".

That's a very good fox. If you didn't intend it to be a fox, my apologies, but it's still a very good fox.

[identity profile] beetiger.livejournal.com 2003-07-23 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
It is indeed a fox. The shirt says "Yiffing for Two", which is furry slang for...well...sexual activity. The stereotype for vixens in the furry mythos, as it were, is that they are very sexually active and indiscriminate, so I thought it would be fun to dress as a "knocked up" one, still at her usual behavior.

Oh! DUH!

Is remember that costume!!!!

DUH!

well, that's kind of a Duh...other than Vicki and Rebekah, I don't know if there have been that many other pregnant furry woomen at cons! And only someone like Vicki would be as great as to "costume to body type" fo charmingly:)

[identity profile] cloverr.livejournal.com 2003-07-23 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
altho..it might be a real hoot to see one of the crossdress femme fursuits done as a mother-to-be!

[identity profile] foxcutter.livejournal.com 2003-07-27 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* it's something I've thought about myself.

[identity profile] foxcutter.livejournal.com 2003-07-27 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* would it help to say that I just started reading her LJ, and didn't know she actually was pregnant at the time?

Or at least it just hadn't clicked yet.

Still, she looks good in the costume.

BTW: Nice running into you again.

cute costume!

Sounds like a decent weekend (I've also gone to cons and not gotten to do any con events...)

wanted to mention that I really like the pottery mug you sent. The glazing striations on the inside are perfect markers for "end coffee here and add milk". I'm cutting down on caffiene but still sometimes have a cup in the mornings.

I like the costume. :D I wish I could have seen it in person.

I'd like to chat with you sometime about how you made the costume (from what materials, patterns, etc). It's exactly the type of format Simtra is looking for and might even be usable by me (most fursuits aren't since I'm so large and so tall).

Sure! Do you have Yahoo messenger? If so, catch me at vickithebee. Otherwise, drop me email -- I've had a computer crash recently and lost your addy.
