Anthrocon report (short, obligatory)
Jul. 22nd, 2003 08:48 pmI didn't attend a single actual con-sponsored event, it turns out, except for the game I ran, but I had a moderately amusing time in any case, despite being too exhausted to attend RHPS or do any late night hanging out.
Special thanks to
aprivatefox for helping to run the tabletop gaming rooms, and
sythyry,
lediva, and
tygermoonfoxx for running games. You made my job easy, and gave me time to wander about.
My favorite part of the con, as usual, was costuming. I'm pleased to see that full body, non-plush style costuming is continuing to gain in popularity; it's a great way to interact with people in character. The Heaven the Pregnant Vixen costume went well, I thought:
I especially like the way the hair came out -- so seventies!-- and the toe socks (barefoot and pregnant, y'know). Fewer explicitly squicked reactions than I expected, and much postive feedback. Many many people rubbed my tummy, which somehow in this context didn't bother me in the slightest.
Expected: The comeon "By two, you don't happen to mean me and my friend, right?" (Nice try. :P). Not expected: More than one person thought I meant that I was a serious fan of
2_gryphon. Special bonus: The suit is actually very comfy, and I expect to wear it as random around, the house maternity wear when the weather gets cold.
sythyry and I gave away a lot of pottery, and got prints and sketches and produce and promises. I hung out with a bunch of tall women and other interesting people. Mothra kicked a lot and got his very own conbadge, thanks to
mister_wolf, via
lediva.I ate cheesecake with interesting freaks. Some World Tree books were sold, despite only about an hour and a half table time on my part.
That's it for the con scene for me, for the next few months.
