Dress to confuse?

The bright red shirt just jumped out of my closet at me this morning. It's got long sleeves, but isn't too heavy, perfect for this weather.

The blue cotton skirt? Elastic around the waist, since I'm not ready for maternity clothes yet but most of my slacks have gotten a bit tight for comfort.

I didn't even notice that I put white stockings on this morning. I'm not really a morning person.

So when my coworker cheerfully chimed out at me, "You're looking All-American today!", I was rather surprised. Embarrased even. It's a popular sentiment, and no one around here's going to give me trouble for it, but it really wasn't the message I was intending to broadcast today.

Meanwhile, I've been tempted to make myself a t-shirt with the hammer and sickle on the front, and maybe a star and crescent on the back, just to offend the maximum number of people. Want one? You can wear it the day after you wear the red/white/blue ensemble for the maximum confusion value. :)

Well, it'd need to be work appropriate, but if you can do it on a nice jumper dress, definitely. :)

Swat them upside their heads and explain that red + white + blue - stars = French, not American.

Ooh la la! Who are you, my insightful stranger?

Me, at work without my laptop (and password).

It always has puzzled me why people would take things that boiled down to a stripe each of red, white, and blue as American instead of French. But then I was one of those twisted kids who read the World Almanac for fun.

The ensemble sounds good to me! I see nothing wrong with wearing red, white, and blue -- and having your opinions. Dissent is extremely patriotic!
