I'm having a craving for matzo ball soup, even though it's not a holiday or anything. But how, my friends, shall I make it?

I liked the matzo balls my grandmother used to make... they were large, with a fluffy outside that would float if you stripped it off, but a dense core that was *cold*. Unless you cut them open and let them warm up.

I suspect this was more of a 'pull matzo balls out of the freezer' thing than a 'secret family recipe' thing, but it was still a neat soup experience.

Wow that sounds good. There are no Jewish delis in Yavapai County, hrmph.

By the way, your clothes are so astoundingly late (stop me if I told you this) because I am now part of a huge clothes sharing experiment taking place across the country. I'm expecting a box of assorted items from someone on a mailing list, and after I go through that I'm supposed to add yours and mail it to you along with what I can't use from this person. She has (or had) money and excellent taste, so this should be a barrel of fun.

Cool. Pass me the info on the exchange along with the clothes, and I can add some items and continue to pass it along.

Heh, I got stiffed on the first one, which means you're just getting mine (I swear I'll do this soon, I've been going through everything for the impending move to somewhere.

You didn't include an option for astatine nodules, pixel broth, or poiled slurgs! How can you have matzo ball soup without poiled slurgs?

Oops, I forgot to put the "other" line in! Luckily that's what comments are for. I'll gladly trade you some FD&C Blue 1 for some soup-grade poiled slurgs, if you've got them handy.

Woe! Unfortunately I only have *mock* poiled slurgs at the moment, and they're unboiled, er, I mean, unpoiled. :)
(Not that you were about to ask, but "poiled slurgs" are an alien foodstuff from a science fiction comic beloved in my household. One day we were boiling pasta shells and decided that the shells, wriggling around each other in the pot of boiling water, looked not too dissimilar from how we imagined "slurgs" would look. This thread has been brought to you by the National Non Sequitur Council. Monkey!)
