Discovered while randomly flipping through a trade 'zine for the consumer goods industry:

a tampon which gently vibrates to relieve menstrual pain.

Oh, yes. I use the Keeper. And I love it. My SO's Keeper only just had, like, structural integrity issues after something like eight years of monthly wear. So we bought her a new one. The cups come in two sizes: pre-childbirth and post-childbirth.

They aren't for everyone, I admit. Folks who are easily squicked by their own bodies, or whose internal proportions mean that the stem protrudes uncomfortably, or anything like that probably won't want one.

But I look at what I was paying before I started using one: ~$8/month, depending on availability of the right tampons, pads, etc. ($8 x 12 months) x 5 years = $480. (Versus ~$35 for the cup.) I can throw a decent party for that, or buy a Playstation 2 and a bunch of nifty games. :) And it's even better for a lesbian couple. :)

I am, by the bye, in no way, shape, or form affiliated with the folks who sell the Keeper.

*looked through the site* That almost sounds too good to be true.

Bugger. This post was actually from me, but I forgot that Akycha was logged on to the computer at that point. Sorry.
