It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Just got a big pile of herbs and incenses from the Pacific Northwest in, and now my house is all gorgeous cedary smelling.

Can't wait to start making winter incenses!

If I wasn't so sure that customs would destroy the hell out of it, I'd mail you some of the dried lavender from my "garden"...

I've been meaning to ask -- is there anything that one can do with hyacinth? That is, after all, the meaning of the Japanese word "yuuna."

It cannot brain!

The word I meant to use was hibiscus, of course ...

Oh, well, cool. That's much easier. Hyacinth is a flower which is nearly impossible to capture, either by drying or by extracting essential oil. Hibiscus, however, is easy. I sell powdered hibiscus on my website. It has a gentle sort of tart cranberry aroma and a lovely pink color. I use it to add a pale reddish tone to rolled incense made with light woods, and it works well for the holidays with peppermint oil or with evergreen woods.

I think I'd definitely like to try that. :)
