A Night in the Red Gargoyle Inn -- You're Invited
"You and your fellow adventurers gather in the Red Gargoyle Inn. A mysterious cloaked stranger buys you a flagon of wine, and offers you a chance to spill blood and win glory..."
You're invited to Stormhoek and D&D Night at Chez Gargoyle! We'll have the Inn, where you can taste fine, exotic Stormhoek wines, eat fine, exotic Chez Gargoyle bar food, and play fine, exotic board games. And we'll have the Arena, where you can bring D&D characters for tabletop sparring with each other or a variety of fine, exotic monsters.
This is part of Stormhoek's wine giveaway to bloggers, here

Character Guidelines for Duelling
- Third level characters get 3,000 gp worth of stuff. Twelfth level characters get 12,000 g.p. worth of stuff.
- If you use books other than the core books, Savage Species, and Draconomicon, the Blooms might not be able to DM the duel.
- If you use any other characters, like from a real game -- D&D or World Tree or whatever -- the DM will do its best, but don't expect a fair fight.
- Be nice to Stormhoek, and blog about the event afterwards, and mention the wine.
If you're bringing more than just yourself, please tell us in a comment.

Thoughts on Level 3 D&D Core Dueling...
so, with that in mind, elfs are often the best race for level 3 core dueling...
and, generally, you would want a build that has some staying power and is very good at something... that would probably be fighter 2/barbarian 1. with that, you can rage and do tactical things like trip and combat expertise, or simply power attack with a greatsword.. rememeber to use lots of one time use items, like potions...
anyway, thats my discourse on 3rd level D&D dueling.
For 12th level D&D dueling, the most powerful characters are generally clerics and druids... mmmm, quicken metamagic for buffs and casting in wild shape! :)
Re: Thoughts on Level 3 D&D Core Dueling...
A typical wizard's coup-de-grace isn't all that likely to kill the recipient, but I guess a duelist wizard could take steps (like using a high-crit and/or high-damage weapon, even one they weren't proficient with, or taking a high enough strength).
As a backup against elves, Color Spray will incapacitate a 3rd level target for 1d4+1 rounds (although not sufficiently to coup-de-grace them) with the same saving throw.
Web will often keep them trapped much longer than that, even if they're a raging barbarian or have great saves.
