So, if you spent 99 cents (plus $6.00 S/H for about a buck worth of packaging postage) on an item from eBay which turned out to be complete crap (chain broken, locket charm fused together with some sort of goop and requiring serious scrubbing before it would open, made of nickel or pewter when it was billed as sterling/marcasite), would you bother complaining to the seller/leaving negative feedback, or would you just figure you got what you paid for?

(EDIT: I left her a comment with my complaints. I'm not sure what exactly from her would satisfy me, but if I don't get it within 24 hours, I'll leave negative feedback.)

(EDIT 2: She offered me my choice of returning it for a refund, including a shipping refund when I pushed for that, or a replacement piece for free. I took the latter, since I don't want to bother with shipping, and it'll work if I clean it up and put it on a new chain. I am planning to leave neutral feedback saying that the item was not as described bt the seller was flexible about making things right.)

I'd leave negative feedback. If they lied about one thing, they're probably lying about others.

But I'm vindictive. :}

If it wasn't what the listing says it was, then DEFINATELY leave negative feedback. When I was buying on EBAY I always looked up the sellers info, because that is all buyers have to go on.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] heavenscalyx, especially since they overcharge that badly for postage. At the very least complain to the seller.

That's exactly what negative feedback is for. Use it!

Well, that's quite a chunk of shipping and handling for something so small and if it wasn't as advertised, that's a problem regardless of what you paid for it. If she can't explain/replace it, negative feedback is justified.

This happened to me a month ago, but I've been told that leaving negative feedback often means getting some back, and I can't afford that - my rating is still so new that anything negative would knock it back to zero.

Feedback is your reputation, and if the seller is selling crap, then other potential buyers need to know!

Everything I list on Ebay is as it's described. I would NEVER list an item that's broken! That seller deserves a negative!

I haven't hit EBay in a while, but yeah, I'd definitely complain. I mean, it sets a bad precedent to let lousy sellers continue their work.

if she didnt reply on it,
and it was MISLISTED,
negitive,
and see about getting your $ back,
if you payed via paypal, you might be able to do stuff..
shippping you cant do much about,
if it was stated in the auction, your commited to it once you hit the conferm bid.

but yah, negitive feedback, unless shes willing to give you your $ back.

(i got into a flamehtingy on ebay over a person who bought the 9yards of fabric for $16 shipped, and i charged 1.50 for packaging, and $7 for shipping, when her shipping was almost 9 before the packaging fee, and she wanted $ back!!)
