Look at my userinfo page and chose a friend we both have in common. (Yes, I am on my own friends list, if you insist. But I want to hear about everyone!)

Post a good memory, funny story, or flattering anecdote of that person here in comments. You can tell the whole story, or leave cliff hangers so that next time friends get together they "just have to ask: how *did* you get yourself out of the shark tank? and how did you get home now that your evening gown was completely translucent?" This is a great way to tell that wonderful story about someone who would be too modest to blow their own horn.

Extra points for good stories that either I don't know about that person, or that I haven't heard for so long, reading them is like returning to an old favorite bed-time story.

Then, of course, post this to your journal and learn more fun stories about your friends.

[Remember, folks, this is for fun and meant to be enjoyable. If the story or anecdote is unflattering or libelous, I'll delete it with extreme prejudice].

Well, since no one else is likely to choose [livejournal.com profile] fushichou, I suppose it's up to me... :)

Not too long after I moved to the bay area, back in the '92-'93 time frame, the rest of my family came out for a visit. This included my parents -- and it also included my then-9-year-old sister. I was actually able to find a Polish restaurant in Mountain View, and we decided to make a group dinner of it, inviting Paul (my then-boyfriend), [livejournal.com profile] wolftrouble, Peter (one of my housemates at the time), [livejournal.com profile] cyberfox, and a handful of other close friends. The dinner goes well, with various lazy conversations running back and forth, until there's a momentary lull and my sister bursts in out of nowhere: "So, do you guys all play together??"

Synchronized silence is really something to behold. :-) To his credit, [livejournal.com profile] wolftrouble was the first to answer, getting the question clarified: "You mean like frisbee and stuff?" She nodded eagerly, everyone made fast murmurs of agreement, and the conversation went on casually from there, but I'm never going to forget that perfect momentary freeze. From the mouths of babes...

Well, since the only one on the list I've spent extensive amounts of time with is [livejournal.com profile] fushichou, and I've been meaning to tell this story to someone...

One day, I was using Stef's computer to Google for something. I noticed that she had 14 browser windows open, and was about to yell at her for using IE. Then I realized that it's in fact Mozilla Firebird 0.7. At that point, she came in and I said to her "honey, tabbed browsing is your friend." She then showed me that in fact she was using tabs. It was just that she had so many tabs in each window (the window devoted to fan fics had the most tabs, naturally, hee) she needed 14 browser windows.

D'oh, missed you on this friends' list. :-) Yeah, that sounds just about right to me... scatterbrainedness runs in the family, definitely. Or at least in some nooks of the family.
