Changing of the Guard
However, I'm not quite on my own yet. My mother's showing up tomorrow and staying until sometime in the weekend to help out. She's really good with kids, having become a professional nanny after my siblings and I grew up, and I'm sure I'll be able to learn a lot and gain a lot of confidence from her. On the other hand, I'm not sure I've spent more than 24 hours or so in the same place as my mom since I left for college, and I'm not really sure how a week of her in my home will go. I suspect a lot of those questions you can avoid in short visits are going to come up after a day or two of being together, and I should probably be better prepared on how I plan to handle them without fumbling. I'm also kind of confused about how much like a guest I should be treating her, how much I need to fuss to take care of her while she is helping to take care of me.
Still, three generations in the house for a bit is kind of cool, at least conceptually.
