Open letter

Dear Universe, people in my office, or anyone else who needs to hear this:

I screw up sometimes. Often, even. Sometimes I'm missing critical information. Sometimes I'm just careless or stupid or inattentive or lazy or entirely oblivious that something's amiss. But I'm rarely malicious. If you have a problem with something I've done, please tell me. If you've made a request of me and I haven't complied, please mention it to me, explicitly, in a timely fashion. If I'm doing something you find unforgivable or disgusting, some sort of direct notification of this might be appropriate. I probably haven't noticed.

You can even talk about me behind my back, make thinly veiled references about how incompetent I am in public, charge me late fees, or decide to hate me for the rest of my natural life, if you like. But I'd appreciate it if you'd take it to me first, before involving other people.

What really makes me *furious* at the "I'll tell everyone but YOU what the problem is" attitude is that it breeds such paranoia. One [expletive deleted] person that I suddenly find out has been whinging about me behind my back for months or years colors my impression of everyone in my life. Suddenly I'm wondering who else secretly loathes me while smiling innocuously to my face. Grar!

Oh Tell me about it. I swear I would love to be a fly on a wall regarding some conversations regarding me. I always hear people say "Oh your being paranoid" But when you are dealing with people that are double agents and backstabbers how can you not be paranoid! I hate backstabbers too! There are too many of them and too many of them do things out of expediency

Well, since we all have amnesty... We do have amnesty, right? ;) I was kinda feeling rejected at probably not being able to come down (last I heard) but I got over it in about a half-hour, resolved that you, Bard, and Julia are wonderful, and simply increased my resolve to visit after Mothra's born, if it's a less crazy time for us all. :)

I'm of the opinion that anybody who's decided to hate you for the rest of your natural life doesn't know you very well unless you have some sort of secret gig as an international arms trader I'm not aware of. :p

Actually, the point of trying to rearrange those logistics was the complete opposite of trying to reject you -- I wanted to make sure I could actually give you the attention you deserve! I'll call you tonight and we can hash out a sensible plan for everybody.
