Expand my horizons!

(idea snarked from [livejournal.com profile] endogenousardor)

I'm looking to start reading some additional LiveJournals, and I'd like your assistance.

Would each of you please take a look at my Friends list and suggest the one person who is not already on my friends list whom you think would make the best new reading for me?

shinyshinyelves?

I'm very fond of [livejournal.com profile] pure_jane, though her posts are rather sporadic. I can't read her alter-ego, [livejournal.com profile] janezero, because she goes to too many places that push buttons of mine in one way or another, but you might like her.

[livejournal.com profile] vyoma, for cool nature photography, political rants, and general weirdness.

...Not that I can understand why you're looking for *more* friends when I can barely keep up with half the number you have. :-) But [livejournal.com profile] melskunk seems like she'd be a fairly plausible addition to your list, often with interesting things to say, relatively local, etc etc...

(For those who want to know who's on their friends list, but not yours, there's a LiveJournal Friends Comparison site...)

Some people who are Really Worthy:
[livejournal.com profile] jmhm is She Who Must Be Worshipped. Aunt Julia is a political blogger who posts a few links a day to current events. Closely related but more personal is [livejournal.com profile] carpeicthus.
I have no clue how [livejournal.com profile] owlrigh came to be among my LiveJournals, but I'm grateful that she did. While most of my friends write about the Huge Topics of humanity, she writes about little things... and does so in a delightful way.
[livejournal.com profile] seraphimsegrist is a bishop in an Eastern Orthodox church. I've never been Eastern Orthodox, but his mixture of philosophy and knowledge of the world intrigues me.
And, finally, [livejournal.com profile] sythyry is a fictional journal written by an imaginative fellow. His setting, the World Tree -- oh? You've heard of him? Great journal, isn't it?

Either [livejournal.com profile] gwenix a friend of mine I met through various mutual friends (who are in the gaming industry, even though she is not) or [livejournal.com profile] sykii, who is a seriously cool friend of Reive.

[livejournal.com profile] wolfieboy, [livejournal.com profile] jerusalem66, and [livejournal.com profile] goloban. All great people and great writers, I'm proud to call them friends.

[livejournal.com profile] ursulav comes to mind. Always funny, really talented, thought provoking.

merovingian

I think I spelled it right. He is in my freind's list. His is the journal of the life he does NOT live.

[identity profile] chris-warrior.livejournal.com 2003-04-16 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
rollick, because she writes for the Onion, and is f*cking funny. her posts are almost always dryly witty and oft-times insightful.

[identity profile] queenofstripes.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Curses, you beat me to it! Damn the Kevin Bacon principle! :D I'd also note that she's been talking about exotic Vietnamese cuisine recently... :)

[identity profile] chris-warrior.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
heh.

i actually found my way to her through my other Dino (MUD) friends. she's friends with a bunch of the people i know/know of in Chicago.

[identity profile] m0nkeygrl.livejournal.com 2003-04-16 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
She's been my friend since I was 13: [livejournal.com profile] asqmh.

Hmmm, I think you'd get along with [profile] fourprint. Sample.

[livejournal.com profile] r_ness is the obvious one, though he hasn't been posting much recently.

[identity profile] beetiger.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
Is that the being occasionally known as Leon?

[identity profile] chris-warrior.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
whoah. and see, that's just too odd. do either of you know Leon in rl? met at Yale, maybe?

we've been friends for - oh god - over 10 years now. i met him through the MUDs. :)

he's using his LJ mostly for restaurant reviews. or was, when he was posting.

[identity profile] beetiger.livejournal.com 2003-04-17 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
*Everyone* knows Leon.

[identity profile] r-ness.livejournal.com 2003-05-15 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
So, now I'm intrigued about the link between you two. How do you know each other? :)

[identity profile] beetiger.livejournal.com 2003-05-15 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Chris' husband is part of my gaming group up here, and I got to know her that way.

[identity profile] chris-warrior.livejournal.com 2003-05-15 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
hey, i get to see vicki but seldom, but that's a heck of a lot more often than i get to see you :p ;)

Great stream-of-consciousness discourse: [livejournal.com profile] cabaretgirl

Amusing musings from Down Under: [livejournal.com profile] owlrigh

For completion's sake, you might want to add my other lover, [livejournal.com profile] fishoutawata

I've got more, but you've already been recommended a whole bunch.

Email me re: summer plans. As in: I think the bun in the oven will knock our 6 Flags trip forward a year, but I need to be reminded to convince you to come to BiCamp. If I can get you to go, various Posts might straggle along with you, trailing you like the Beetiger fangrrls they are . . . . . ;)
