I've just removed my wedding band (yay, Windex method!) due to worry that my finger would swell after a bee stung me right below the spot the ring hit my finger. I got the stinger out quickly and the bite seems to be a non-issue. But my finger's really deformed from compression under where the ring was, since I had those rings sized down after I lost a lot of weight in 2001, and have since gained all of that weight and then a bit back.

I don't expect to be losing that weight again any time soon, so I'm going to go ahead have the ring resized. Any advice on speeding my finger along toward recovery so that I can get a good measurement for the resizing (and also have a finger that looks okay)?

Sorry about the bee sting. I'd suggest bringing down the swelling with ice (no more than 10 minutes at a time, but you can repeat it every hour if it seems to help.) You might also try soaking the whole hand in hot water, or hot water with epsom salt. Alternating that with icing is a nuisance, but does tend to speed healing.

Once the bee sting has gone down, try massaging your finger in warm water on a regular basis. This should speed the return of normal shape to your finger.

Depending on how long you've had your band on too tight it may take a while. :(

I have had a similar issue. I don't think that it's deformation, as such, just that where things are tight, the body doesn't store fat. I've had my ring off for six months and I still can see where it was, although it's almost gone now.
