Catching up

There's been a lot of stuff in the last few weeks, including a really interesting if slow-paced theater workshop up in the mountains which ended with lediva not-quite breaking her foot and a truly dreadful sort of overnight ride home from Boston, the acquisition of new computers and rubber duckies, and way too many apples.

This weekend I managed to get out to lediva's place for a much more pleasant visit, including going to the 2008 IgNobel lectures and then cocktail-partying with IgNobel winners, one actual Nobel Laureate, and the rest of the Ig staff and associates, including sword swallower Dan Meyer and a good number of the rest of the winners.

It also included unusual Mexican food at Tu y Yo, a restaurant down the block from lediva's place, where I got to remind myself that cuitlacoche is way too salty for me, but I also got to have a mini-tamale variety plate. Tamales are one of my favorite foods, and variety plates of small things always make me really happy, so I was sold. Seriously, you could give me 5 white castle sliders with different condiments on each on a cute plate and I'd be really happy. It's just how I am.

We also paid a short visit to postrodent, circuit_four, and shatterstripes, in order to pick up the signed print of the Six of Wands from the Egypt Urnash Tarot. I also ended up borrowing a whole prototype deck from shatterstripes, to read with at the Samhain event run by my pagan Temple. I'm going to have to go review my Crowley, since that's the base meaning set that she uses. I'm looking forward to playing with it.

Also, there was snuggling and sleeping in. My kitty is good for that kind of thing. :)

I've finished up all of the consulting/freelance stuff I had on my plate for the moment, and am hoping something new falls into my lap somehow for the next little while. Otherwise, there's mostly getting the last things set for projectmothra's birthday (including building some modest IKEA stuff, and various website stuff, and probably going over to see if I can be useful over at the local Obama office for the next few weeks. Today I'm giving platelets, which is a good way to feel virtuous while actually mostly spending two hours sitting around reading.

Wow, busy busy busy.

I just got back from Bear Mountain and performing my first wedding ceremony for a childhood friend and his wife. What a pleasure. I was of course nervous, but it went fine. We both overate and drove around Highland Falls and Cornwall on Saturday. It's nice up there and we're thinking of moving up to that area in a few years.

i'm the same way with food, gimmie a small sampler of stuff, i'm i'll be content (i'm debating on spending money i don't have on a small sampler of the local chinese takeout, their rice sucked, but their crab rangoons were amazing)

me,..cleaning, sorting, making, stressing, plotting, working, coding..
looking at my kiln, rather the box it's in on the living room floor (need more safety for it on the porch) is fall cleaning time, i have like barely three weeks to finish making stuff for SteamPowered (steampunkconvention.com) & i need to make cashes so i know i'll be set on the hotel room..
i found that the paste flux i had (a year+) was too old, and had to break down and order flux. which means my major projects i was working on are being postponed till i get it (and a new soldering board, as i broke the one i had)
i also started using my new metal clay veneer kit, and my god, the funness!
and i'm stressing about steampowered...

and right now, doing my taxes so i can efile, late, as usual.
