[profile] bard_bloom, [personal profile] projectmothra, and I took a trip to the West Coast over the past week and a half. If I were being really meticulous, I'd do a full travelogue, but I've been home a day and a half and seem to be moving into the "better something than nothing" camp concerning documenting, so here you go.

First stop was Portland, to visit with [personal profile] heron61, [personal profile] amberite, [personal profile] teaotter, and Winterbeast, who probably has an LJ but I don't know it. Highlights included the zoo, the Chinese Garden, the Forestry Museum, Powell's Books, and Voodoo Donut. Also, lots of time with [personal profile] heron61 and family/extended family. It was good to get to know them all a little better, and I think all of the Blooms might have left with a crush on [personal profile] amberite. ;)

Then we took the Amtrak to Seattle, which was a surprisingly pleasant trip. They check luggage now, and we had a nice table where [personal profile] projectmothra spent most of the ride doing a workbook he'd picked up at Powell's.

Our hosts in Seattle were [personal profile] shaterri, [personal profile] quarrel and [profile] fuschichou, who were all generous and lovely, hanging out and cooking for us and all of that. We also got to spend lots of time with [profile] aprivatefox and [personal profile] mufi, who managed to take a good bit of time off to spend with us, as well as making [personal profile] projectmothra some puzzles and letting us get discounts on attractions. I also got a nice amount of time with [profile] tracerj and with [personal profile] lediva, who was co-vacationing with us and staying Chez Tracer at the Lapinian Embassy. Highlights of this part of the trip included going berry picking down by the slough, visiting the Experimental Music Project/SF Hall of Fame, drinking bizarre martinis, going to Archie McPhee, wandering the Pike Place Market, eating Japanese tapas, spending a day at PAX, a big dim sum gathering, and eating [personal profile] shaterri's cooking. Hmm. There's a lot of eating in there. No wonder I gained weight this trip. ;)

In any case, everyone was awesome. Thanks for hosting, and thanks for being good friends.

*******************************
Today was [personal profile] projectmothra's first day of kindergarten, a half day. He was very nervous about it last night --about making friends mostly, which hits my own buttons in a huge way. But he was excited by this morning, and I think he had a good time, though I'm not sure that the reports that lunchtime for kindergarten is only 2 minutes, or that there are two kids named Ari with no last names at all in his class, are quite right. I need to get a class list somehow so I can do birthday invites over the next week. I'm going to invite the whole class as it's too early in the year for him to know who he'll be friendly with. OTOH, the party falls during the Columbus Day weekend which often cuts attendance, so I think it will work out okay. The place we're having it can hold 40 if for some reason huge numbers of kids accept.

Heya,

Just a quick random note, but I was just wondering if either of you would be intersted in demo-ing World Tree at FurFright once more this year.

Got your email -- still trying to see if we could work the logistics. Will let you know.

Ah, good!
It'd been about a year and I'm always worried that I'm using an out-of-date address.
Thanks.
