I'm doing a short-short story swap on swap-bot. The stories are required to be under 60 words, excluding the title. You don't get the pretty handmade art stationery with the story handwritten on it, but you can have the story. (It's 58 words.)

Beginnings

My son asked me how babies know when to come out of their mothers to be born, since they are so tiny and don't know anything. I reached into my brain and tried to remember, but the only thing I remember is red. Maybe we remember from our old lives, when we were beasts. Or maybe it's magic.
