Tie dye report
Oct. 6th, 2006 04:03 am*Long Shirt, "JoJo's Circus" type:
Much more bleedthrough from the blue to the yellow than I intended, so that the overall impression is more green than yellow-and-blue. Wearable, but not stellar. I'll give it to the girl it's intended for as part of her brithday gift, but I'm going to doubt that her mom will want her to wear it to the actual party.
*Pants, "JoJo's Circus" type:
Gods, that's awful. Not only did the red and orange not resolve well from each other, not only was there a ton of laddered whitespace instead of firm stripes, but apparently I didn't get the mordant out of the fabric well enough before they went into the mixed wash and I ended up with red-orange and lavender pants. Really hideous. Not sure what I'm going to do with these, but I'm not giving them as part of the gift.
*Infant Romper Dress:
Blue, purple, and green stripes, with just enough whitespace to lighten it up, lines are crisp and straight. Pretty. Will do well as the intended gift.
*Little Pagans T:
Green and bronze swirl, came out the way it always does. Should be able to ship order tomorrow.
*Sweatshirt:
Blue/purple/white asymmetric. Came out a little darker than I intended, but looks fine. Need to decide whther to add a transfer to it for the little boy it's for, and if so, what.
*Panne velvet pants:
Oh, these are gorgeous. They came out as mostly bronze, with a green/blue white ladder that reminds me of deep forest or maybe some sort of a tree-dwelling snake. And no one will mind if my son wears panne velvet pants to school, right?
*Experimental tee:
Added a bit of blue dye to one of the small-sized purple tees I've been fussing over. It looks pretty decent. I'll probably put a transfer on it --maybe one of those "Earth Cats" ones I've got lying around somewhere-- and let Rhys wear it.

Date: 2006-10-06 12:17 pm (UTC)Are you on the forum and once posted pics to a tie dye chat on there? I remember seeing some amazing dyed clothes posted to one of the conversations there (was a couple months back so I can't remember user names *sigh*).

Date: 2006-10-06 12:24 pm (UTC)I've actually been kind of shy about pimping my work there. I secretly wish someone would start a thread for my incense shop there -- I've got a ton of stuff in the shop I think people would enjoy if they knew about it -- but it seems kind of kludgy and ungracious to start it myself.
I'll try to get photos of Rhys in the pants when I put them on him at least.
