After waiting nearly three weeks to not get into any PT facilities up here for Rhys, we've ended up in the same place/slots that we started with in his original meeting, about a 35 minute drive from here for a half-hour session, pretty much killing the afternoon two times a week.

I am in such a foul and unproductive mood this morning that it's appalling. Doesn't help that I put on the most absolutely gakkish horrible FeMaledictions perfume this morning and it's lingering around me like a plague of checp artificial musk.

I do not seem to be doing any of the things I needed to get done this morning either.

In general I love fall, so I'm not really sure what's up. Must find something to do with the little guy this afternoon. Probably should eat food.

Why have I totally forgotten to post anything on the days that seem to be working better?

What is Rhys in PT for?

It's a beautiful fall day - maybe playing outside will lift your spirits :)

He's got some gross motor delays, particularly in dissociating movements of different parts of his body, and overall low muscle tone. He's also getting speech therapy as some of the issues extend to his jaw and tongue as well.

And yeah, outdoor stuff is good. :)

SOUNDS LIKE SIMILAR STUFF TO FINBAR...HIS DIFFERENT BITS ARENT COORDINATED LIKE HE TURNS HIS WHOLE BODY TO LOOK AT SOMETHING AND HE DOES THINGS LIKE WALKING AND HAVING HIS LEFT HAND TOUCH HIS RIGHT KNEE AND VICE VERSA. HE ALSO HAS LOW MUSCLE TONE AND JUST GENERALLY UNCOORDINATED AND "CLUMSY" (MY WORDS NOT THEIRS).

THEY DID SAY WITH WORK HE WILL CATCH UP TO HIS PEERS WHICH MADE ME VERY HAPPY. AT LEAST HE WILL CATCH UP ON THE GROSS MOTOR SKILLS. I THINK HE NEEDS MORE EVALS FOR HIS FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND OTHER SENSORY ISSUES HE HAS BUT THE CLINIC FOR THAT IS NEARLY 2 HOURS AWAY. FOR NOW I AM JUST GLAD THAT HE IS GETTING MOVING ON THE PT.

HE GETS A TOTAL OF 80 MINUTES OT AND PT ONCE A WEEK THRU THE PLACE HE GOES AND THE SCHOOL GIVES HIM ANOTHER 120 OF OT A MONTH. I THINK TOO THAT HE COULD STILL GET THAT EVEN IF I HOMESCHOOL. ARE YOU GOING THRU ANYTHING LIKE EARLY INTERVENTION OR THE BOARD OF ED TO HELP ALL THIS? IF NOT YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK INTO IT I FOUND A WORLD OF HELP THRU THEM INCLUDING FINDING OUT ABOUT GRANTS AND WAIVERS TO HELP PAY FOR EQUIPMENT AND THINGS FOR THE BOYS THAT PRIVATE INSURANCE OR OTHER AGENCIES WONT PAY FOR.

Yup, similar stuff, sounds like. This is through EI, soon to transfer over to CPSEschool district since he turns 3 in a few weeks. He's getting 90 minutes speech, 60 minutes PT.

I"VE BEEN OFFLINE PLUS I AM UNABLE TO TYPE NORMALLY. COULD YOU FILL ME IN WITH RHYS AND PT?

MY ELDEST SON JUST STARTED PT AND OT PRIVATELY AND HE"S FINDING IT A LOT OF FUN (THIS ISNT MY KID ON THE SPECTRUM. TED GETS OT AND SPEECH AT THE SAME PLACE). FIGURED IF YOU WANTED TO COMPARE NOTES OR HAVE AN EAR OF SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS A KID IN PT FOR WHATEVER REASON I"M HERE EVEN IF I DO TYPE FUNNY (DONT WORRY KEYBOARD WAS SHIPPED YESTERDAY SO I CAN BE NORMALISH SOON ENOUGH).

BTW WHEN LOOKING BACK A BIT TO SEE HOW YOU WERE I SAW A BPAL POST. YOU HAVE ANY LEFT? ANYTHING AMBERY OR SANDALWOODY OR SOMETHING? IF SO YOU CAN JUST EMAIL ME AND WE CAN DISCUSS IT THERE.

ANYWAYS BACK TO PT< THE PLACE I WENT TO WAS SO POSITIVE AND WONDERFUL I HOPE YOU GET THE SAME WARM FUZZIES AND FEELING OF COMPETENCE AS MY PLACE GAVE ME!

Hey, see my note to Leslie above about the PT stuff. I've definitely got some BPAL still up for swap, and a new order that should come in next week that'll probably have some more stuff for sale/swap in it. I'll drop you a line after that arrives.

Hugs, and good to hear from you!

Oh the horror of trying to get help for your kid and not finding it easily. I'm currently traveling a ridiculous distance for OT for my son too. It took me months of being on the telephone (with the insurance company and various OT/PT people and places) to find a match. And even still, there's the traveling. It's been absolutely worth it, but it's so much time in a car on a highway I hate.

I hope your foul mood (and foul smell) go away soon!

YOu don't post on good days cause you are too busy being in the moment cause ti's good! Theres' no desire to get away from it.

We've talked about the therapy issues; perhaps you can find someting to take up the mental time of the travel that will make it feel less like 'dead' time? Not sure what's feasible for you wrt driving and rhys listening, for instance.

Just a thought.
