Tuesday Miscellany

*I seem to be having a lot of travel stress dreams lately. The lost-in-airports/having trouble packing/can't find the right train sort of thing. I'm sure the meaning would be more obvious if I were awake enough to think about it.

*BPAL fans are funny. They want perfumes named after the dread dark mysteries of the universe, but really they want to smell like freshly baked cookies and candy. Seriously. I'm testing a highly coveted limited edition scent called Shub-Niggurath, and it smells like something right out of the oven, all brown sugar and warm ginger.

*I'm very conflicted about physical stuff right now. I seem to be really enjoying my things in some ways, but I'm at the stage with my clutter that part of me wants to hold on to 3 outfits of clothing, a pair of shoes, my computer, a hairbrush, a library card, a pot, a pan, and a small box of jewelry and perfume, and toss out everything else I own.

*[livejournal.com profile] bard_bloom's Fimbulwinter Nights game is totally excellent. The plot's been fun, and the characterization has been excellent overall. And [livejournal.com profile] bard_bloom rides with our crazy schemes really well.

* I am missing [personal profile] lediva way more intensely than I usually do. At the same time, I really need to do a better job cultivating more local social contact, but I just don't know how.

*In general, I'm very very grumpy and unfocused lately.

That's all for now, I guess.

But... That's what Shub-Niggurath smells like! Brown sugar, and ginger with a slight undertone of... PLEASE MAKE A FRIGHT CHECK, OR TAKE 2D10 SAN DAMAGE.

Yeah. I think Lovecraft would have gotten the word 'Sepulchure' in there somewhere. Or at least 'Perplexing'.

You're not kidding. I have an imp of Kali, right? Kali, as in the Destroyer Goddess? The one who wears a belt of skulls? It smells like honey. Winnie the Pooh would thoroughly approve of this scent, at least as it works on me. It just doesn't say "destruction" to me; call me crazy.

Although, now that I think of it, most of the few BPAL scents I've tried (I've not had the chance to try The Raven yet; I hear it's really floral) would get you seriously attacked if you went into a hummingbird sanctuary.

Heh. On me Kali smells like milk chocolate and wine.

Of course the stuff named after the Hidden Evils of the Universe smells like cookies and candy. It's because no one really wants to smell like rotting squid and ozone.

We are in the same social contact bind. We have 2 close friends right now, the rest are getting flaky with us.

Trying to make new friends who have kids so Alan can have playmates - it isn't easy.
