(Trip was excellent. Detailed post on that later.)

We took Rhys to a little fife and drum performance/reading of the Declaration of Independence this morning, at one of the local historical houses. They were selling little flag-themed pinwheels, and I got Rhys one. It is distinctly marked "Made in China". For the gods' sake, there must be a factory in America able to make cheap patriotic plastic shit, mustn't there?

After the show, they had a table where people could add their names to a facsimile Declaration of Independence. Much as I'd love to have an independent, self determining New York in some ways, I declined.

Cheap patriotic plastic shit made in America? Sure, if you don't mind it being made by prison labor.

*cries*

The idea of peaceful lil' secessionist city-states cheers me up, though. :)

Made In The USA is seen less and less because Americans have the pesky habit of expecting remotely viable wages and bathroom breaks and humane working conditions. :/

The short sightedness of the outsourcing craze makes me bonkers.

I'll shut up now.
