Note for the future:

Do not attempt to make bath fizzies on a humid July day.

EDIT: Especially a humid July day in June. :P

For the domestically ignorant, can you explain what a bath fizzy is, and why it turned into effervescent pastry?

It's a lump of baking soda, citric acid, epsom salts, and nice smelling oils that you throw in your bathtub and it fizzes and smells nice and makes your skin soft when it hits water. If there's too much water in the air when you are making them, well....foaming cupcakes.

Decorating a cake on a humid day isn't a good idea either. I did one once for my parent's 25th wedding anniversary back in '87 and my yellow roses were melting into blobs as I worked! Fortunately most people at the party were a bit too tipsy to really take that much notice, myself included. How I carried that cake without dropping it, I'll never know.
