Rhys is not very creative with his stuffed toy names. The unicorn is "Unicorn". The lion is "Lion". Occasionally, some animals will get media names: the rabbit is Peter, and the turtle is Tuck (from Wonder Pets). The black Labrador stuffed toy has been called "Puppy". But while we were away over the weekend, Rhys told me that its name was not "Puppy" anymore. It was "Dog Bloom".

I guess Puppy outgrew his nickname. ;)

Maybe he just named them after the Lewis Carroll characters? They really WERE just named "the Lion" and "the Unicorn." :)

Alan's sole named stuffed animals are "Doggie" and "KitKat". He just doesn't seem to like naming things.

Ilana received a teddy bear who she informed me was named "Pencil." I asked her, "Why did you name him Pencil?" She answered, "Because he's a bear."

I'm 33 years old, and I have a small red teddy bear who is named, with shocking originality, "Red Bear." I also have his twin brother, who belonged to my mother when she was in her late fifties. Since these bears are a deep, highly saturated red, they reminded her of cranberries, so twin bro is "Cranberry Bear" or just "Cran" for short.

IOW, there is no observed upper limit to the really strikingly obvious names for one's Non-Metabolic-American friends. ;>

My little brother (who is now 18 and graduating from HS this weekend...yikes) was the same way. "Lion" "Zebra" and the like.

We tend to do that with pets--Mousey and Guinea, for example.
