Freecycling
Dec. 14th, 2004 04:25 pmI finally got around to posting my old furniture on the local freecycle group, and it looks like it's going to work and people are going to take the couches out of my garage and enjoy them. Yay freecycling!
Rhys is saying a lot more words lately, though I'm still sometimes dubious about if I'm just contextualizing sounds a lot. But I think he is saying "apple" (Ap-l), "pear" (Peh), cheese (Chizz) and fish(iss) pretty regularly now.
We went to the local Montessori this morning, to which I'm considering sending Rhys for 3 mornings a week come fall. He seemed really comfortable there. I don't really havea plan as to what I'd do next myself with the open time though, and I still need to decide whether sending him to "school" this early is a good idea or not. I was a nursery school dropout, myself. The people at Yellow Duck wouldn't let me take my Oreos apart and only eat the middles of them, and somehow I always ended up being the cheese during the Farmer in the Dell, so I refused to go anymore and stayed in bed for three days pretending to be sick. Or so my mother says; I don't really remember.

Date: 2004-12-15 02:08 pm (UTC)I can email it to you if you want (my professor said I should publish it as a pamphlet to give to parents considering preschool), but here's the short version:
Yes. Put him in preschool as soon as possible. He's over a year old, time to start socializing him with peers, building up his immune system, and getting him used to mommy leaving him somewhere for a few hours where he can play and learn.
He is going to get sick a lot, especially at first. This is (of course) worrisome, but extremely beneficial.
