1) So, I've got this spiffy new Gmail account. It's perfect for people whose organizational style is like mine: put everything in a big-ass pile, and sort through it for what you need when you need something. It also threads conversations in email, which turns out to include putting all of the comments responding to one post in the same pile. This rocks, and I've thus moved my comment-notify forwarding to there.

However, one of the other things that Gmail does is automatically scan your email for keywords, and then gives you a sidebar of "sponsored links" (ads) and "top search results" for the thing you haven't searched for, but surely want to based on your email. I'd asked you all for advice this morning on my baby sleeping troubles, but was a bit disturbed to spontaneously get Google's opinion on the matter: good places to buy crib bedding, and warnings on the perils of cosleeping.

2)I'm apparently now an infamous furry, or something. God Hates Furries warns you about people like me! My biggest reaction is "Thank goodness, they actually pulled a picture of me that I like." (See icon.)

Creepy... I wonder if they're selling the info to anyone, or using it to build a database of email trends.

You were always infamous, weren't you? ;-)

You're right, that's a pretty good picture! Who did your face? You can do that yourself or did you have someone do it?

I can't even put eyeliner on straight, anymore. :/

I believe they are mainly selling clickthroughs.

"God Hates Furries"?

Who would intentionally associate their movement with Fred Phelps!?

I think they're more tiresome than anything else. It's not that I don't have a sense of humor, it's just that they're just not really all that funny. Their material was passe half a decade ago.

I think the real comedy lies in the fact that as pathetic as they think furries are, they spend all their time building entire websites, message boards, and even wasting their money on buying domain names—all because they've got their panties in such twist over furries. It's hard to get offended when you consider they're just screaming their lives away on the internet and that's just sad.

Meanwhile, the fandom continues to thrive, and with the exception of these delusional little crybabies, everyone's enjoying themselves.

Living well truly is the best revenge. -:)

Really? If you liked the nun's habit, all you had to do was ask.

Well, I think it's more that he's "enraged" over the "evil" of "furry," if you catch my drift. :) The whole site's just a big troll, of course, to see who he can rile up. But I actually kinda find that more irritating -- if he's got a moral grudge, fine, he's following his conscience. If he's messing with total strangers' feelings for fun, wow, maybe he should consider a more pleasant hobby like naked rugby, or eating live hedgehogs, or home psychosurgery. :)

There are times when I'm tempted to set up a site like "godhateschess" or "godhatesmacrame" and see if furries are really reacting any differently than anybody else would under those kinds of cheap shots. Of course, macrame and chess lack the point-and-gawk factor that a guy in a fursuit has for the easily amused...

And yet again, I thank {idh} that I was not consuming a beverage while reading your comment, because the spit-take that would have resulted would have ruined my keyboard.

You know what's weird, though?

I'm looking at the gallery of "horrible Fursuits", and there are lots of pictures there, and, um, most of them are pictures of really nice fursuits. There's RT Hawk, Mechawolf, Genna Ringtail, Bunny Bloom, and lots of other nice ones. And I'm thinking, if these people really wanted to have a gallery of "horrible fursuits", there are more "deserving targets" out there. I've seen some that are very obviously "my first suit, made by hand on a very low budget". (Not that I'm putting them down; all artists have to start somewhere.)

Whoever put up this site obviously LOVES this stuff, but refuses to admit it. :}

That's exactly what I find funny...the fact that this pathetic person has nothing better to do with their time and money.

Yeah, I was noticing that too. I guess their point is that even the best of fursuits are HORRIBLE or something.
