Because I'm really a hippie at heart, and because they are made with free trade organic cotton Guatemalan fabric and come in bright colors, I bought myself a Maya Wrap baby sling. It came with a really elaborate instructional DVD, in which the same woman, recorded over the course of several years, reads from a teleprompter (or more likely recycled hemp fiber flash cards or something) while holding an astonishingly large number of different children. Despite this, I couldn't quite figure out how to get Rhys into it. After some real-life help from wild eyed attachment-parenting ladies who run the local La Leche League, I had graduated from not being able to get him into it at all to only not being able to get him into it without him having an inconsolable crying fit.

But today (with some help from my visiting doulas), I actually managed to get him to rest in there, and I walked around the house with him and felt all urban neotribal and stuff. Go me!

That is just way too adorable for words. Ye ghods. Kitchy-koo, and all that...

I like the triumphant smile on your face, and the snoozing expression on his!

Oooooh, how absolutely adorable! When does he get a broom of his own and how long before we see him wearing Dr. Dentons with a tail sewn to the arse? ;)

Other people's babies are always so damn cute!

Of couse mine was too, and she still is. :)

OMG. I just realized that, even though I would never use the term "hippie" to decribe myself now--I really did fit the profile when I was a young mom 20 years ago. I had a back/front pack style Snuggli carrier for Hannah as an infant. I took her everywhere with me. I breastfed her for over a year, no solid foods for at least the first six months. I had no qualms about breastfeeding in public; I pumped milk when I went to work. etc etc. Gawd, you are bringing back memories!

Hee. }:P

Personally, I like the high-tech nylon super-baby-carrying harness my sister got... it's sooo complicated, with straps and buckles and velcro everywhere.

I love wraps/slings. They work so well for soothing babies and bonding and getting things DONE. Maya is one of the best out there too. He's so cute and peaceful!

I dig the shirt and glasses. :)

Although, I don't think I've seen either before... are they new, or am I just unobservant?

He already has a baby-sized black cat bunting (courtesy of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], complete with tail, which he wore at Halloween and which will also show up at Anthrocon this summer, I am sure. As far as a broom, I think he needs to learn to crawl and walk before he works on flying!

The shirt I've had forever, but you may not have seen it; I'm leaning more toward the button down shirts and leass toward the one-piece dresses in my wardrobe for breastfeeding accessibility.

The glasses are indeed new, and rather a new look for me, as I haven't worn plastic frames in at least seven years or so.
