The dialect of English that I seem to have learned has a few quirks that my midwestern-trained husband and other folks seem to find amusing. One of these is that I tend to voice medial "t"s, making them sound like "d"s. So I don't make a distinction bettwen words like "latter" and "ladder", "bidder" and "bitter" or "eaten" and "Eden".

I guess my boss must have a similar quirk. Today I got an email containing the phrase: "Please call me I will explain all the sorted details."

I lived in Wisconsin for the first four years of my life.

Apparently, midwestern vowels stayed with me.

There is no difference between how I pronounce "Dawn" and "Don".

And everybody laughs at how I pronounce the capital of New York.
