Miscellaneous notes on Valentines Day
1) I find it rather amusing that when buying my holiday gift,
sythyry got asked if it was for his young son. It's a swiss watch of the brand flik-flak, the kid's version of swatch, with cute baby tigers batting a ball around and saying Grr. Luckily my wrists are small!
2) I got flowers at the office two days early, irises and stargazer lilies and roses. He wanted me to be able to enjoy them there for a bit before taking them home. This was so right.
3) Three times a year, we indulge in one of the ridiculously fancy restaurants around here: my birthday, our anniversary, and Valentine's Day. Floofy French restaurants are wonderful and all, and always offer an opportunity to order duck. But the actual reason to go to them is chocolate souffle. The waiter quipped, as he punctured the powdered sugar heart stencil on top of the dessert with a spoon to finish it with the sauce, "This is her heart without you: a big hole in it." I responded. "Yes, and I'd have to fill it with raspberry sauce!" The waiter looked confused.
