beetigerI tend to become friends with rather independent people. They're the kinds of people who don't feel afraid to go off by themselves and spend time doing things their partner doesn't enjoy. Often ,they're very fond of their partners, and talk about them a lot, but we never see them. palhawk was gaming with us for quite some time before I actually ever got to meet sirhc_warrior, and I had almost started to believe that Mike, who spent at least one night a week out here in Westchester, and not at home in Middletown, was perhaps slightly delusional.
Tonight, I finally got to meet the mysterious monogamous wife of a rampantly poly-activist friend with whom I've been hanging out for months. She was extremely pleasant, and she and I seem to have a lot in common. We ate sukiyaki together, putting the ingredients into the pot with our hands and talking about religion and music and psychology and how much we liked mangoes. She made him more pleasant too, if only becuase he talked loudly about sex in public quite a bit less tonight than oter times we've hung out.
I know that sometimes I've got a mystery spouse too, assythyry's significantly less social than me, and a number of the people I've met through cons or through Boston contacts have never gotten to meet him, though I talk about him often. I wonder if people think I'm delusional too. But I assure you, I could not possibly have invented Bard. I wouldn't have been able to pull that one off with a straight face.
