I really appreciated this post because I have for years obsessed about my hair. I think you look just fine....which i know you're not looking for validation, but I think you being "other" and "different" in a sea of conformity to fashion trends and ideals makes you unique, special and wonderful.
I KNOW I don't fit in in Sparta between it's WASP-y upper class people and nouveau rich Italian NYC transplants. What with the formerly fuschia long ringlets, tattoo sleeve and big honking horned god (that I'm sure they think looks like a demon) on my calf with my fiancee and his earrings and long ponytail. And I don't care.
I also don't care that now that I'm officially middle-aged, I am wearing some youthful clothes and hairstyles. I don't want to become a frump...which you obviously haven't either. I want to march to the beat of my own proverbial drummer, express my creative spirit, but without looking like I'm trying to be a 20-something hoochie momma with "booty" on the rear end of my pants. It's a tough balance. I see women who are obviously trying too hard to look young. Then others who I hope are like myself who are just youthful and have a spirit and style that represent who they are without looking garish and overplayed and just...sad.
Sorry. Not sure this is all what you were getting at...but it got me thinking. you look great, Vicki and I miss you.
