I'm working on some things in Panera this morning, while my son is in preschool, and a woman who is the spitting image of my mother, 25 years ago and maybe a foot taller, just walked through the place. High high heels, clickety-clack on the tile floor, business wear except the skirt's very short and the neckline of the blouse is pretty low, long bleached blonde hair straight down her back.

It's weird to look at it as a grownup.
