Water from another time
Oct. 15th, 2004 11:25 pmI've been packing powders in jars and bags, and measuring and shaking ingredients together to make incense kits, and talking to vendors about samples and shipments, and suddenly it feels a lot like the routine parts of my old benchtop work in the food industry. It feels grounding. It feels good. It'll feel better when everything's in place and I can ship orders, of course, but for now, I was surprised and pleased with the familiarity of it all. I'm doing it all at night now, after Rhys is in bed, which makes for long nights, but I hope volume of orders will escalate enough to justify me getting a mother's helper for a few hours some afternoons as well.
********
Rhys had his one-year doctor's appointment today. He's still tall and thin, and he got about fifty billion shots (well, three) and a TB test and blood taken. Suddenly, I feel like all those "new moms" resources aren't for me anymore. But I'm still spending too much time without other adults, and/orwith people I don't like much.
