Sep. 11th, 2003 10:19 amA minute of silence in an lab building is always strange, because labs hum when you are paying attention to them. Refrigerators, dishwashers, computers, alarm systems. The city hums too, really, so I guess that's appropriate.
I got a call from a colleague in Amsterdam this morning, who asked me "how you all are doing there today in the United States". I felt odd speaking for the whole country, but I told her we were quiet.
In 2001, I talked. In 2002, I sang. In 2003, I'm listening.
