It seems that there are several ways to get to my office from my home, and all of them take approximately on hour and twenty minutes, once distance, speed limits, and traffic are taken into consideration. So I guess my choice of route is more a matter of personal choice and road condition prognostication than anything else.

I took the route that goes roughly by my old office this morning, the all-highways route that is about 25 miles longer but all moves at about 70 mph as a reverse commute. I felt a lot less residual body stress than I did the previous two days, despite the additional traffic. I think the comfort of a familiar route and the lack of twisty turns on two lane roads where things are constantly narrowly missing you probably made the difference. I got into the kind of spacey morning mode I associate with commuting. Perhaps I can do that on the much prettier back roads, with practice.

Since I’ve been leaving an hour and forty five minutes for this hour-twenty commute, I got off an exit early from the Merritt this morning to explore the location of a mall nearby. I guessed wrong on the off ramp, and didn’t go to the mall, but to a bunch of strip malls with some interesting things in them. I swerved to avoid a squirrel and instead of killing it outright, squished it halfway. I hate making mistakes like that.

The fact that my location is remote from my home means that going to doctors and therapists and stuff is going to be very difficult. I really am not happy about losing 3 hours pay to get a physical, which is what is happening Friday.

I don’t feel very interesting this week. Perhaps I should be whining about the Republicans instead. I am going to try to get to some of my writing projects tonight, which will hopefully make me less tedious.
