Wow. I've been wearing a lot of BPAL
Apr. 20th, 2006 10:49 amAnother set of reviews. Still have more in the queue to share, and more in the box to try.
Compared to the $2K I just spent on a swingset, this still seems affordable.
I feel so exhausted lately. It's like I'm doing way too much and way too little at the same time.
I need a BPAL icon.
VICE
Their description: Voluptuous and indulgent! A deep chocolate scent, with black cherry and orange blossom.
In the bottle: Chocolate cherry..
On the skin: Smells just like a chocolate covered cherry cordial. Like on of the flavors I'd use when I was working on dairy alcohol drinks. Granted, one of the ones I would have chosen to use. But pretty much a straight confectionery smell. Not for me. Julia's getting this one.
DELIRIUM
Their description: Non compos mentis, indeed! A contrary, conflicted scent, bubbling with merry madness. Contains apple, rose, and lemon.
In the bottle: Chocolate cherry..
On the skin: Woo hoo! Light fruity apple blossom and rose, without a lot of lemon. I like this a lot more than I thought I would. A spring scent that isn't screaming lemon, yay. Late drydown is just a bland rose, however. This was much better in the first hour before the apple blew off. I put this on Rhys when he asked to wear something, and it actually worked on him.
THE LION
Their description: The dry, glorious warmth of the Savannah. A golden, spiced amber, proud, regal and ferocious..
In the bottle: Resinous amber with a cinnamon undertone and some sort of a heavy floral in the background. Very nice.
On the skin: I think maybe this is what I was hoping for in Bengal and didn't get. Nicely blended florals, resin, and spice (cardamom + ginger?) Gets a little peppery. Works as a Tiger scent as well as a Lion one. Definite keeper.
13 (2005,LE)
Their description: 13 thirteen lucky and unlucky components, including white chocolate, tangerine, currant, mandarin, white tea and iris.
In the bottle: Milk chocolate with a bunch of stuff going on behind it.
On the skin: This develops into a chocolate orange that reminds me of one of those milk chocolate oranges that come apart in slices. There's a bunch of background that could be the other flavors in the store – sweet fruity notes, mostly. Not as complex as I might have guessed, at least not on me. Nice as a chocolate scent.
SKULD (2005,LE)
Their description:Ylang ylang, honey, Egyptian and Arabian musks and labdanum.
In the bottle: Sweet sweet sweet!
On the skin: Syrupy floral-sweet, without any rose or jasmine notes. The ylang ylang (which I love) is very strong, and the musks start to come forward lightly behind it while the honey fades back a bit. A calm evening scent, like an exotic garden walk. Gets a little grapey as it sits, which is not so good.
