beetigerRhys and I took a trip today to Connie's Bakery and General Store in Mt. Kisco, a new shop that has classic bakery treats and high-end gift stuff, and that's donating all of its profits to charity.
(I always wonder about startups doing that. I mean, do they only start making donations once they are profitable, or do they start donating a percentage right away? After all, I've been in business with Little Pagans over a year now, my overhead is really low, and *I'm* not really running in the black yet.)
In any case, they had a tray of wonderful tiny little cupcakes, light and dark, with brightly colored buttercream frosting piled on them in swirls. I asked Rhys if he'd like a cupcake, and he was enthusiastic, so I asked him which one he wanted. He grinned and pointed to the next section over in the case -- where there was a full sized cake decorated like a giant cupcake, just the same way. I laughed, and said, "No, which *little* cupcake do you want?" We picked one and started to look around the store a bit while he tried it.
Another mom came in, with a little guy in a stroller just about Rhys' age. We said hello and then didn't pay much attention to them, but I couldn't help overhearing the woman saying, "No, which *little* cupcake do you want?"
They must hear that all day.
