A party in my mailbox

beetigerI've started participating in the most amazing thing. The Sampler is kind of like a handmade physical stuff APA. This month, I sent in fifty pins with my Little Familiar design on them, and Marie mixed them all up with really cool stuff from about 89 other contributing crafters, DIY designers, and small alternavendors, stuffed a portion of the mix into 300 or so Priority Mail envelopes, and sent them out all over the country.
Today I got an envelope stuffed with a DIY ideas zine, a pin with a design from an old magic eye book, a tiny knitted keychain, five different really cool pieces of handmade stationery, two pins that say "I <3 your mom", a fabric flower pin, a zipper pull made out of shrinky dink plastic, a hair tie, a pair of jasper-chip earrings, a brooch in the shape of a bird made out of buttons and felt, some solid lavender perfume, and a tiny hexagonal box studded with rhinestones and displaying a picture of a big-breasted anthropomorphic female ape and the Statue of Liberty.
I've been working on my 'trib for next month -- little sculptures of snakes made out of a a lovely meditation incense. Not quite as transient as Buddhist sand art, but kind of the same idea.
I love the vibe of this project. It's really friendly and positive, and everything that people are doing is just so amazing. I felt like I got a little bag full of love in the mail today, and like I sent a little flicker of love out to fifty near-strangers at the same time.
Connectedness, and manifestation, and creativity. It feels good.
