I've decided to try to keep the discipline of posting here, even if I feel uninspired, incoherent, or the like, just for the discipline of it.

I had some sort of intestinal bug from Wednesday night till sometime on Friday, which made the turkey-festing a little less desireable than usual. But it's the first year since the year I was being really determined about Weight Watchers when I didn't overeat at the Thanksgiving table.

I was rather irritable, but kept my cool. I didn't even do much worse than grumble when all four of the other children --including the six year old!-- there decided to use Rhys' new riding toy (which he'd gotten for an early Hanukkah gift from my stepmom) before letting him touch it, just because he's not old enough to realize it was supposed to be his. And neither my sister nor my brother said anything to their kids about it.

We went on Friday to my inlaws, where Rhys had a great time in the daytime. He's realized that the portacrib isn't as comfortable as his real crib, though, and between that and the brightness of the room and the kitchen noise, he ended up in bed with me all of both nights we stayed over. Luckily, he's very cuddly. ;)

We saw cows at the University dairy facility, and Rhys played with cups and cousins and balls, and once I was feeling better I got to bake out of a cookbook from Cook's Illustrated. I like their test kitchen style; they do what I'd do if I had the energy to bake the same dish 38 times with minor technical variations to see what worked best. I ended up making a molten chocolate cake, which was pretty similar to some of the better versions of the restaurant dessert I've had, and biscuit-based cinnamon rolls, which were what the Pillsbury ones in the roll are trying to be, only these were really really good.

There was also what seemed to be a mated pair of fox running around in my inlaws backyard this morning. Maybe they'll move in and we'll get to see kits in the spring, if we're really lucky.

[livejournal.com profile] peganthyrus has finished the new art up for Mother's Hearth, and it's up. Yay wingy incense lady!

I came home and went to catch up on LJ, and I very quickly found myself feeling mopish and lonely. Perhaps I need to read less LJ.

Sorry to hear about the stomach bug, but glad it’s gone.

Any idea what it was about reading LJ that got you down?

I do want to see you in person sometime soon, but it’s great to be able to keep up a bit via LiveJournal.

Big big warm hugs!

I'm not sure. I think it's because a lotof my depression tends to manifest in the form of feeling like I'm watching the world rather than participating in it, and LJ just naturally encourages that kind of feeling.

I heart my Cook's Illustrated Baking Book! When I am at a loss or want to try something new I go to it and can always find something to bake. *hugs* I hope you start feeling better soon. I missed your posts.

You need less LJ, more Roundabout. Then you'll be all better.

Oh, I have to talk to you about Wednesdays. Hmmmm. How's Wednesday the 29th? You'd get to see me 2 days before I turn 29, AND that's the 29th! How cool is that? AND my Coyote might be able to come with me on that particular Wednesday, so we'd have a wild foursome of manatee-watching! ;)
