I'd like to take Rhys in for his first trip to the Museum of Natural History later this week, and I'd love to combine that with some visiting with friends who live down that-a-way and can make a bit of free time on a weekday afternoon (probably Thursday). Anyone up for it?

Depends on where Dan is working, if anywhere.

So for me it would be best to say where you are going to be and when and me let you know if that's possible. He has to go to the union hall and see if there is work for him. If not, obviously he'll be home to watch at least one. Three would be a bit much for me to take. That and of course what day the dear workman's comp check shows up, funfun. But other than all those really annoying obstacles? Yes, sounds like fun. :D

The only way I can do this is if the Temp Assignment ends suddenly (always a possibility, since it was "through sometime in August" when I started there); if it does, I'll show up with [livejournal.com profile] cattitude.

Very likely, indeed, though it depends on whether I have a job interview then. I should know that late tomorrow. Or is that a general Thursday, rather than a specific Thursday-the-day-after-tomorrow?

Anyway, I love the museum and would be happy to go with you if it fits my schedule. Further, it's possible I can get you in on my membership -- the written rules say no; the people at the entrance have said yes three times out of three so far.

I was thinking "this Thursday", but I could easily do it again/instead on "some other Thursday before it gets cold out". Drop me a line when you know your schedule.

Okay, would it be easiest for you to send me a phone number and have me call in the am if we make it out there, then? Use vickib at gmail.

He had no work today so he has to go to the hiring hall for 6am in Long Island City. If there IS work, I have no idea when he will be home. If there isn't work, he SHOULD be home by 10am, unless they have him do picket duty (informational pickets, handing out fliers, not blocking people from working) or phone bank stuff to get people to vote and things like that.

Of course, I wont know any of this until 8 or 9am. So there ya go. :/

Reminds me this was a choice we made. IRONWORKER. :D

Of course he should see the herd of elephants and other creatures, but I also highly recommend the Pacific Northwest Natives exhibit. I think a young'un would get a big kick out of their iconography. I think it's my favorite room in the whole museum, I just love the atmosphere there. May have something to do with being stared at by lots and lots of giant creatures.

Hmm... I'm always up for a trip to the museum. However, I work until 6pm effectively. Plus another hour to get into the city, or more, depending on train schedules.

P.S. Remember that the donation that is requested on entry is entirely flexible. You can donate as much or as little as you want. The prices are just advisory. That said, the cost for any sub-exhibits (such as the theater) is non-optional.
