Could definitely be worse

I'm sitting on my old couch in the garage with my laptop, 'cause Rhys fell asleep in the car and I'm crappy at moving him into his crib. Thing is, I did this for his morning nap too.

Poor kid. Such a klutz for a mom. There's a lot more I could get done if he were sleeping inside, too, but oh well.

Am I the only mom ever with arms too short to put her baby in the crib without startling him by sorta-dropping him the last inch or two, even when I use a stepstool?

No, as a matter of fact, I didn't even bother with a crib for my second child, she slept in the porta crib when she used the crib at all.

I had one of those co-sleeping things, wasnt much of a drop.

I also would use the carrier and have the kid sleep that way. Even if it meant on a table where I was working or better, on the floor on a room I was working in.

I used to do that all the time. Not having to is one of the main benefits of having taught her to go to sleep on her own. My arms are just barely long enough, provided Piet remembers to leave the side of the crib down. If he doesn't, I will invariably wake her up by shifting her around while I try to get enough hands free to put the side of the crib down!

Does he roll much? If not, he's old enough now that you could put him on your bed, hemmed in with pillows, and he'd be fine.

I used to sleep in the car when the kids were asleep -- just pull over and nap also. it was the only way I got enough sleep. My little one also slept in a playpen rather than a crib, cause he was climbing well before he could walk, and it was safer/lower for him to climb out of the playpen than it was the crib.

Then again, for his first few months he slept in a ... feh, I don't remember what it was called. It looked like modern infant carseats -- with the handle, and the curved bottom to rock, and the handle could flip around to brace it propped up. He had a severe case of the sniffles constantly, but it wasn't a cold, and he was 'too young to have allergies' -- so we just had him sleeping in that, propped up slightly, to give him an angle to sleep on.

Cribs are over-rated. Be creative in your sleeping solutions!

No. I'm about 5 1.5". I hated it when we lowered Alan's crib from its top level. It helps a little that it's next to the bed. But its less of a big deal now, since he's amost 2.

Could be worse...my ex's father left my daughter in the car because she'd fallen asleep...then went inside, leaving her outside in a parked car in the driveway. "But it was alright because I kept looking out to see if she'd woken up.", was his excuse.
